Camouflage of Oppression (2019)

This collection of model vehicles has been constructed and painted to explore the history of oppression and conflict against those oppressive regimes throughout the 20th and 21st century. Images sourced from iconic moments in history for these works include a Nazi Party Rally at Nuremburg, Tank Man in Tiananmen Square and The fall of Iraq. The camouflage patterns of each vehicle has been designed through image colour analysis and summarised into the 5 most dominant colours by percentage weight. Hard edge abstraction has been used as an homage to Ellsworth Kelly and the other artists who were part of Ghost Army during World War 2 as camouflage designers.
