Bio

Hi I’m Mark, an Australian Artist based in Melbourne.

I studied photography and creative arts at Deakin University graduating in 2020. The work that I create has shifted over the years and taken on inspiration from all parts of my life. I have a primary focus on photographic work in which I like to explore a wide range of aspects from the capture of pure light in an abstract way through to astrophotography and more common photography themes of the landscape we live in.

My practice began to incorporate my love of history through the building of scale models in which I have explored political themes within my work such as the 2019 series’ Camouflage of Oppression and Precision Guided Armament. This blending of model making and photography resulted in the creation of the 2020 series Mechanity: The secret history of robots. This series explores the appropriation of classical art works which are reimagined as plastic sculptures and photographed.

My work has been exhibited at a number of galleries including the CCP, The Phoenix Gallery, Searby Gallery and Deakin Downtown. 2020 and the global pandemic has meant that work has been exhibited virtually in hosted galleries.
